GOPRO REALLY IS JUST A TOY

PREVIOUS / NEXT

PHOTO GEAR by KRISS on 06 august 2017

I found my Gopro Hero 5 one advantage and it is that I can easily carry it around.
Passed that point it’s pretty much all bad.
My review only limits to the use of a Gopro underwater and I have to admit that I am coming from pro DSLR world behind a water housing and this is what I am using most of the time.
So I guess I shouldn’t compare and I won’t, I will just tell you why the Gopro sucks.

1- Battery life : This is simply a joke, it barely lasts an hour and will tell you there is 30% left after half an hour of doing anything (photo, video, nothing).

2- Handling : for some reason the way buttons are placed and how firm they are really sucks if you want to take photos with a Gopro, it simply doesn’t work.

3- Freezing : sometimes for no reason, the Gopro freezes in the middle of a task (taking a shot) and you need to switch it off and on again to bring it back to life.
4- Layout : a bit different than handling but the layout of the 2 buttons and the touchscreen make it so that you will undoubtedly switch to a different mode, a different crop etc without noticing.
Last dive I ended up with 500 closeups of my beard and my daughters mocked me for half an hour “Mum, Mum, Dad is taking selfies of his beard when we dive”.

Well Gopro, you suck !

All illustrations for this post were shot these last few days with a Gopro Hero 5.
