CHRISTMAS LIGHTS EVE

PREVIOUS / NEXT

FLORIDA by KRISS on 07 december 2015

Our flat tire in Florida a few days ago did have its silver lining and for us it was the people whom we met.
Amongst them, Michael our guardian angel on that one, who also provided us with a good tip on what to do friday afternoon.
He informed us there were christmas lights and christmas chorals in a little place called Saint Armands Circle near Sarasota.

We took his advice and in spite of the light rain, we decided to go.
To our amazement, we didn’t struggle to park the car (I was a bit away with the fairies and scared a few drivers when I parked sorry for that) even quite close to the center of the place.
For what we saw and google map, Saint Armands Circle is a tiny place, of circular shape (thus the name) not unlike Disneyland.
It’s full of shops, restaurants, pubs, an right in the middle of the square, a huge christmas tree was waiting to be switched on.

At its feet, performers and a choral are planned and I must admit that there is a poor organisation as regards to that because the crowds are huge and the space to watch the event very small.
The limit between the crowds and the road which is not closed for the event is slim not to say inexistant.
I for once stepped out of the line without realizing I was in the middle of the road and a policeman hurried me out of there promptly.

Nevertheless, lots of people gather in the park where you can’t really see anything but you can listen to what’s happening and the magic is in the atmosphere anyways.

It’s been a long time for us since the last Christmas that really felt like a christmas atmosphere and even if Florida feels like summer in winter, everything else is there to make you feel the christmas spirit.
It must be the American and Brits touch.
Last christmas seasons we spent in Scotland were exactly the same (except for the freezing nipping cold biting your flesh of course !).

Kate was in heaven, Rose was shooting around with her newly self appropriated camera.
Amy was fighting over the camera with Rose, refusing categorically to take another one and Tom was bored to death (he did enjoy eating pop corn though).
A perfect December evening in some random town in Florida, on an unplanned trip, accidental travelers that we are right now.
May this christmas month bring out all the magic there is to have for us here and for everyone.

For now, a few beautiful shots of Saint Armand Circle !
