LEARNING HOW A WEBSITE

LEARNING HOW A WEBSITE I started learning html because I landed a job opportunity with some folks who were in need of a website.
This was more than 10 years ago, light years in website development.

Back then I barely knew the difference between IE and Safari and html was a big unknown.
However, unlike most of my peers, I didn't go for the easy frontpage solution (well I did at first but it never did what I wanted) so I decided to get that from the scratch.
If I had to get my hands dirty, let it be from ground zero and not trying to fix in the middle of frontpage scribble.

I learned from tutorials on the web and when I got stuck with HTML and CSS I started looking at some javascript and very quickly PHP and Mysql.

When I discovered the infinite possibilities this couple gave me, I went further down this road and started creating programs for the company who employed me.
There is absolutely no limit to what database and object oriented programmation can do, and PHP is very easy if you have some logic and you're good at architecting a schema in your head.

Now I have quit the job which required my programming skills and I have been programming for my own good ever since.
This very blog for instance is written from the scratch in a notepad type add called Smultron.
