RESPECT THE ELEPHANTS OF ANGKOR WAT

RESPECT THE ELEPHANTS OF ANGKOR WAT If you ever watched the show Wild Franck you are certainly familiar with Franck this Spanish veterinary who lives in Thailand and defends animal rights around the globe.
Well, if you’re not familiar with his show, he’s a great guy who magically gets to pet every wild animal he comes across on the planet and Kate gets very upset every time she watches it : “how come he gets to do that !!!”.

A few weeks ago I watched an episode where he was in Angkor what following the death of an elephant that used to work as a slave for tourists.
In the episode we could watch some tourist quite happy of his elephant ride, obviously not having a clue how badly these magnificent animals are treated.
They work every day with no day off and one elephant last summer died of exhaustion, although authorities argue the elephant was sick.

Whatever the truth, elephant are often treated as slaves and I strongly believe this is not their place to carry around amused clueless tourists.
It may displease people who still defend ivory, fur etc… but I am not of those.
And if you want to shoot a Peta campaign with me on four legs with a basket or a saddle on the back carrying despotic cats or guinea pigs… we’re interested !

We saw the elephants in front of one of the many temples of the Angkor complex and Kate and Rose went to pat them while they were resting.
Their small eyes, I am always amazed how small elephants eyes are, seemed so tired and disillusioned, I grabbed a photograph to illustrate this post, reluctantly.
