BEACHES IN NERJA

PREVIOUS / NEXT

NERJA by KRISS on 01 october 2015

BEACHES IN NERJA When you are in Nerja, one of the main catch is its beautiful seaside and numerous beaches.
Although the small village does not have a harbor, which is a bit weird for a village that lived for many years on fishing (fishing boats or barcas are pulled out onto the shore after each fishing session).
It does count wonderful beaches all along the coast and they all have their advantages.

So going east to west this is how we have broke down the beaches in Nerja :

1- Maro : although this is out of Nerja and you need a car to get there we have decided to include them.
These are a few stone beaches very remote, very wild and incredibly beautiful.
Except during summer they are not crowded and often visited by nudists.

2 - Burriana : Back into Nerja, this is the first beach and this also the biggest and the most crowded.
It is a beach of mid-size sand (don't expect any white powdery sand here) and the avenue behind the beach counts many restaurants, bars, souvenir shops and even a small over-priced supermarket.

3 - Parador : Immediately next to Burriana, the two are actually joined together, this is a small beach, quite abrupt in terms of slope and shaded all afternoon.
Since I am a big fan of sunsets this is definitely not my favorite beach.
4 - Carrabeo : This is a beautiful beach but far too crowded during summer months except mornings and evenings.
This could well be one of the best evening beach in Nerja (I prefer Burriana because it is bigger and gives me a sense of immensity).

5 - Calahonda : Right under the Balcon de Europa, this is the beach where you will get to be spotted sun tanning by thousands of tourists during the day.
The beach in narrow, at the bottom of a cliff and although I enjoy going there on quiet mornings, this feels far to oppressing when only a dozen people join you on the beach.

6 - Playa del Salon : with a nice walk with an amazing view running down to it, this is one of the most beautiful beach in Nerja, for the small ones.
The water seems to be a tad more turquoise as well and even if at the bottom of a cliff it does not feel like Calahonda.

7 - Playa Torecilla : Next to Playa del Salon but separated by a large chunk of rock that will have you walk quite a way back into town to change ways, it is separated in two bit and seems to hold many small beaches.
It is a nice place for a walk, definitely, as a paseo runs just by the beach.
As a beach per say, not much to say. 8 - Playa Torecilla bis : I am not sure about the name of that one but that is the west en of Nerja and this beach runs for miles or kilometers and feels very big.
There, on a windy day, many kite surfers will come to play, this is the beach where more locals go and sunsets are not blocked by anything.
I do not often go there because it isn't the closest to our location but it surely is one of the best beach in Nerja.
